Matt's Silver Manson

The "Silver guitar" is made from Poplar and clad in sheet aluminium. It has a 25.5-inch scale length and a bird's eye maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. This is a bolt on neck design.

The neck pick up is a Seymour Duncan "P90" style. The bridge pick up is an Armstrong "Motherbucker". There is a bridge transducer system and also a Roland Hex Midi pickup

Inside the instrument are a phasor (a MXR phase90) and a distortion circuit (a zvex fuzz factory) whose parameters are manipulated by 2 rotary controls.

A replica of this guitar would cost you £3,500.
Matt's Black Manson

The "Black guitar" has a mahogany body and a bolt on maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. The neck has blue LED lights in the top edge.

In the neck pick up position is a Sustainer, & next to that a Seymour Duncan "P90". The bridge pick up is an Armstrong "Motherbucker". Like the silver guitar, this instrument has a bridge transducer system.

Inside the instrument is a distortion unit (zvex fuzz factory) whose parameters are manipulated by a pair of rotary controllers. The copper plate on the front controls a Theramin like wah effect (zvex wah probe). There is a rotary midi controller to change pitches on any midi pedal (digitech whammy pedal). The pad above the fingerboard controls the midi parameters & is touch sensitive. The back of the guitar has many pre-set adjusters to control the settings & sensitivity of the on-board electronics.

The electronics were designed and constructed by Ron Joyce. All other work hand made by Hugh Manson.

A replica of this guitar would cost you £5,000.
Matt's 7-String Manson

This is a 7 string Manson guitar which is an arch top instrument with 2 humbucker pick ups & a bridge transducer system. This is a straight through neck design with hollow cavities in the body. It has a flame maple top & is a translucent cherry red sunburst. Matt often uses this guitar to play songs such as Citizen Erased.
Matt's Laser Manson

Similar to Matt's other silver-bodied Manson guitar, except that this one has a 'cracked mirror' finish, and its own built-in laser show. The controls of the built-in Zvex Fuzz Factory are in different positions as well, with the stability and compression on the back of the guitar and the noise gate and volume on the front. The pickups are different as well. The neck pickup is a Rio Grande 'Fat Bastard' P-90, and the bridge pickup is a Rio Grande 'Punchbox' humbucker'. Like Matt's other silver Manson, this guitar has a built in MXR Phase 90 phaser.

A replica of this guitar would cost you £8000.

Fender Aloha Stratocaster

Extremely rare aluminium bodied fender strat that Matt got off a friend. The aluminium body is engraved with hawaiian dancers, and it says "Aloha!" on the neck. Only 153 of these were made in the fender custom shop, and Matt has number 74.

These are very rare and worth about £10,000.
Les Paul DC Lite

One of Matt's older guitars, his main guitar during the Showbiz tours of 2000. For some reason, Matt has covered the edges of this guitar with black gaffer tape. No one knows why. Matt damaged the headstock during a gig, so now it is very fragile and is never used.

Peavey EVH Wolfgang

Matt used this guitar in the early days of Muse and during the Showbiz tours. Again, for reasons unknown, the top edge of this guitar has been covered in grey gaffer tape.
