NAME: Christopher Tony Wolstenholme
DOB: 2nd December 1978
PLACE OF BIRTH: Rotherham, Yorkshire, UK
MUSE STATUS: Bassist, Backing Vocals
NICKNAME: Cheers
Rather than play with a plectrum, Chris is known to play with his fingers, in a manner similar to late Metallica bassist Cliff Burton. Like Burton, he plays very fast with his fingers, as in Hysteria, Stockholm Syndrome, Fury and Map Of The Problematique.
After two years of failed bassists in Matt and Dom's band, Chris gave up the drums and joined with them as bassist to create The Rocket Baby Dolls.
Chris currently lives in Teignmouth with his wife Kelly. He's got three children, whose names are Alfie, Ava Joe and Frankie.
During Muse's stint on The Cure's Curiosa festival in 2004, Chris broke his wrist playing football with The Cooper Temple Clause. He was unable to play bass meaning the band dropped out of the rest of the tour. But instead of cancelling their headlining spot at the UK's V Festival, a replacement in the form of Morgan Nicholls (The Streets) was drafted in - Chris was relegated to 'balloon duty' and Keyboards, but he soon recovered.
Chris is regarded as a top-notch bassist in the industry, recently being complimented by Sir Paul McCartney after their headline Glastonbury set.
Chris is known to headbang in time with whatever song the band is playing during live performances (when not singing), although recently at the Canadian V Festival he admitted in an interview that the doctor has told him to tone it down a little, as he keeps developing knots in his neck and shoulder.
Chris started by learning the guitar, and then the drums to finally play the bass when he met Dom and Matt.
